Making Sure Your Wedding Stationery Bases Are Covered by Jenny CurranPlanning a wedding is not easy and aside from the location, that fantastic dress you need to track down and your guest list, perhaps the biggest challenge is your wedding stationery. Your wedding stationery is not only your chance to make a first impression on your guests, it is also the thing that is most often saved by guests to remember your special occasion. Below are some tips to help you when creating your wedding stationery set.Things To Include In Your Wedding Stationery SetWedding Announcements/Save the Date Cards – Sending out a wedding announcement letting your guests know of your wedding date and location is the first step in knowing how many guests will be attending (Be sure to include an RSVP card with return envelope and postage). Though you want your wedding stationery to appear as part of a set, it is sometimes a good idea to avoid expensive decoration on these initial mailings. Things like envelope liners and seals can usually be reserved for your wedding invitations. This is a good way to cut costs on your wedding stationery overall.Your Wedding Invitations – Being the center of your wedding stationery, your invitations is where you will likely want to spend the most of your wedding stationery budget and pay close attention to detail. Wedding invitations are your opportunity to let your guests know how formal (or informal) your event will be and are an important element in setting the overall tone for your entire wedding. As mentioned above this is also the thing most guests will save in order to remember your big event so take time to make sure you’re making the impression that you want. Envelope liners, envelope seals, ribbon, floral accents and multi-layered designs are a few things to consider. Reception Cards/Directions – These wedding stationery items should be included with your wedding invitations and though you want them to be consistent with the style of your wedding stationery, single sheet cards with little to no adornments. It is important that your directions to the wedding/reception are printed clearly. Poor printing quality to lead to maps that are hard to read and you don’t want your guests getting lost.Menus and Table Cards – These reception and dinner items should also match the overall feel of your wedding stationery. Table cards can usually be made with a single folded card and nothing too fancy in the way of design. Something to consider with menus is a two layer design that matches your invitations. This is an easy way to add consistency with your wedding stationery since most guests will not bring their invitations with them.Wedding Stationery – Things To Double CheckThere are many details that you can include that can make sure your wedding stationery is as perfect as your event. Paying attention to the following list of things can go a long way in adding additional quality and a lasting impression.Return Postage – Make sure you include return envelopes and postage. Making your guests pay for a stamp is poor wedding stationery etiquette and should be avoided at all costs.Use Calligraphy Fonts – When printing the text for your wedding stationery a calligraphy (cursive) font style is highly recommended to add elegance.Your Requests – If you prefer to not have children at your ceremony, make sure to let your guests know. Be as clear as you can here to avoid any confusion.Double Envelopes – When delivering your wedding invitations, place them, envelope and all, into a cheaper outer envelope to ensure that they are not smudged during postal delivery.Envelope Seals – Adding these to the envelopes of your wedding stationery add a high degree of quality for minimal extra cost. Wax seals and paper seals work equally as well here. These are just a few things that go into the making of a quality wedding stationery set. Like most bride’s to be, I’m sure that your wedding stationery is something that is not only important to you, but something you want to make sure you get right. Keeping in mind the things above can hopefully help you to achieve this.Let us help you design and create the perfect wedding stationery. Australian House of Representatives acknowledges Cyclone Larry efforts

Australian House of Representatives acknowledges Cyclone Larry efforts

Wednesday, March 29, 2006The Australian House of Representatives today acknowledged the impact of the recent devastating Cyclone Larry and the efforts of the support given to the residents and communities of north Queensland in order to restore normal life.

Phillip Ruddock (Liberal, Berowra) moved a motion expressing this after Question Time today, which included a description of the devastation wrought on the area, the response by the Australian Government and the Australian Defence Force, and thanked the efforts of people for their “willingness to roll up their sleeves and get on with the job of cleaning up and rebuilding their towns and centres.”

The Leader of the Opposition, Kim Beazley (Labor, Brand) supported the motion, and congratulated the move to put General Peter Cosgrove in charge of operations, stating that soldiers “know how to work through logistics issues…how to work around officialdom or blockages”, praised both local federal and state members of Parliament, and especially the Labor Queensland state premier, Peter Beattie.

Bob Katter (Independent, Kennedy) was more critical in his speech. Katter thanked Beattie for his immediate response, but also described his confrontation with him and said how first responses were “simply not working”, but also praised Beattie’s decision on Cosgrove. Katter also described how the incident was “the worst natural disaster inAustralian history” and how the banana industry in north Queensland was decimated. Katter went on to describe the financial problems of the people in the region, the “huge gap” between the cost of rebuilding and insurance payouts, also asking “Are we going to pay people virtually nothing to sit on their backsides to do nothing or are we going to pay them a decent wage and have them rebuilding our communities for us?”

The debate is set to continue in the Main Committee, as an opportunity for many more members of the House of Representatives to speak to the motion, without taking up further time in the Chamber.

Apple introduces iPhone and Apple TV

Apple introduces iPhone and Apple TV
    Posted in Uncategorized | July 25th, 2018

    Wednesday, January 10, 2007

Apple Inc. today has introduced the much-anticipated iPhone at the Macworld Conference in San Francisco.

The iPhone is claimed to be “a revolutionary mobile phone” as stated on the Apple website. The device appears to be running a mobile version of the Apple operating system Mac OSX. It is approximately the same size as a 5th generation iPod, it has a 3.5-inch LCD touchscreen display that is used to access all features of the phone including number dial, as well as making phone calls. The iPhone plays music, movies, displays pictures and is able to connect to a wireless network.

Apple CEO Steve Jobs unveiled the device by walking onto the stage and taking the iPhone out of his jeans pocket. During his 2 hour speech he stated that “Today Apple is going to reinvent the phone, We are going to make history today”.

Today Apple also released their Media Center device – Apple TV. It will directly compete with Microsoft’s Media Center operating system. Apple has taken a different approach to the media center market; rather than storing content (such as movies, music and photos) on the device, Apple TV connects to a computer (Mac and Windows) over a wirless network connection and plays all content stored on that computer. This makes it substantially easier for users to organize their media content.

Bush: Congress should approve ‘vital’ bill

Bush: Congress should approve ‘vital’ bill
    Posted in Uncategorized | July 25th, 2018

    Sunday, February 17, 2008

Speaking in his radio address on Saturday, George W. Bush said that the US will lose its ability to carry out surveillance against suspected terrorists abroad as the US Congress did not approve a renewal of the law which allows the US Intelligence agencies to record phone calls without a warrant.

Mr. Bush started by saying that “At the stroke of midnight tonight, a vital intelligence law that is helping protect our nation will expire.” Right from the opening of his speech, he made it clear that he believed Congress should have passed the bill. During the speech, Bush also said that he believes “Congress had the power to prevent this [the bill not being renewed] from happening, but chose not to.”

In a statement, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi responded to the speech by saying that “Their [George Bush’s] true concern here is not national security.” They said that Bush wants “to protect the financial interests of telecommunications companies and avoid judicial scrutiny of their warrantless wiretapping program.”

The address comes as George Bush leaves on his trip to Africa, with the address being pre-recorded to allow him to make the visit to Africa.

Bush concluded the speech by stating that he believes “the Senate has shown the way by approving a good, bipartisan bill,” and that “the House [of Representatives] must pass that bill as soon as they return to Washington from their latest recess.” He added that he believes that “at this moment, somewhere in the world, terrorists are planning a new attack on America.” and that “Congress has no higher responsibility than ensuring we have the tools to stop them.”

    Warmest Canadian winter on record

    ">
    Warmest Canadian winter on record
    Posted in Uncategorized | July 24th, 2018

    Tuesday, March 14, 2006

The winter of 2005/2006 has been the warmest winter in Canada since the beginning of the nationwide weather record in 1948, with average nationwide temperatures 3.9°C above the long-term average. Statistically, such a strong deviation from the average is expected to be observed only once in 100 years.

While most of the country was experiencing temperatures of at least 2°C above normal, in most of Alberta, Saskatchewan and the Northwest Territories the temperatures were 6°C above normal, with some regions averaging up to 8°C above normal.

For this statistic the months from December through February were counted as winter.

Lack of ice in eastern Canada will probably affect the annual harp seal hunt, which typically starts around March 15. In February, so little ice had formed that Environment Canada reported that such poor ice conditions had never been seen before in recorded history. The last time conditions approached what we saw in February 2006 was in 1969. The year 1981 was the third lowest ice year in recorded history.

In 1981, a number of harp seal mothers, who normally whelp only on ice, went to the shores of Prince Edward Island and Nova Scotia and gave birth on land. That year, due to the lack of ice, hundreds of thousands of seal pups drowned. The seals who were born on land faced both natural dangers such as death by exposure, and the danger of death at the hands of thousands of sealers, both licensed and unlicensed. These sealers took this rare “opportunity” to walk right up to a baby seal and kill it. Some of these seals were also attacked by domestic dogs.

Australians missing out on full sports coverage, media outlets say

    ">
Australians missing out on full sports coverage, media outlets say
    Posted in Uncategorized | July 24th, 2018

    Wednesday, April 15, 2009

Major media outlets have told an Australian senate committee on environment, communications and the arts that Australians are being denied full coverage of sporting events.

They have told the inquiry that major sporting organisations are restricting how photos and text can be used on the internet and other digital media, which is threatening the reporting of sport as news.

Sporting organisations have hit back saying that such online content is a big money earner for them. They say that the money earned from those rights gets invested in grassroots programs.

Australian Associated Press asked the committee to recommend legislation guaranteeing the right of news media cover major sporting events.

“AAP reporting and photography are the lifeblood of news for regional and rural newspapers across the country,” Fairfax Media, publisher of The Sydney Morning Herald, The Age and a number of regional papers, said in its submission. “Millions of Australians are being prevented from receiving full AAP coverage of major sporting events. When photographs of sport events are privatised, all forms of journalism are vulnerable to such restrictions.”

“AAP believes that the most effective way to protect the public interest in receiving news about sporting and related events is to have a legislated provision for right of access for news media,” AAP’s submission says.

The Australian Football League, in its submission, also argued for legislative amendments, but to the Copyright Act. Their recommendations would see the use of audio-visual, photographic and audio media restricted in the digital domain.

“To avoid protracted disputes with media organisations and to ensure a minimum standard of protection across digital sports news reporting in Australia, AFL believes that the best means of introducing these restrictions is by way of amendments to the Copyright Act or a mandatory industry code,” the AFL’s submission said.

Wikinews asked the AFL, Football Federation Australia and the Sunshine Coast Daily for comment. The AFL refused to comment until after their submission was formally made to the committee.

    Plant Thorn Synovitis An Interesting Type Of Arthritis}

    Posted in Cabling | July 24th, 2018

    Submitted by: Nathan Wei

An interesting topic that very few people- even doctors- dont know about , is a condition called plant thorn synovitis.

This problem occurs when a thorn from a plant enters a joint by puncturing it. This can happen during the course of gardening, trimming plants, or even while walking through dense brush where one uses their hands to push away branches.

Once the thorn punctures the joint- usually a joint in the hand- it leaves some plant matter inside the joint. This sets up an acute localized inflammatory response within the synovium- the lining of the joint.

Symptoms include joint swelling, redness, heat, and pain, accompanied by stiffness and reduced range of motion. The inflammatory reaction inside the joint is called synovitis.

Thorny plants that are most often associated with this problem are rose bushes. However, there are other thorny plants that can do this. These include: palm trees, black-thorn shrubs, cacti, bougainvillea, yucca, pyracantha, plum trees, and mesquite trees (Medicinenet.com).

While small hand and finger joints are most often affected, other joints can also be involved.

Symptoms of plant thorn synovitis may not develop for several days or even weeks after the puncture. The patient may not even recall having a puncture because the actual puncture may not have been that painful.

Plant thorn arthritis may be suspected if a patient comes in with a single joint that is inflamed. A careful history may produce the fact that they had been punctured by a plant thorn. Even if the plant thorn was removed by the patient, microscopic amounts of plant matter are left inside the joint and this is what causes the inflammatory response to develop.

The initial procedure is to insert a needle into the joint and draw out fluid to make sure that some other type of infection or other type of inflammatory process such as gout is not responsible for the problem.

Once this is done, then a patient can be sent for x-rays or MRI scanning to better delineate the process. Diagnostic ultrasound can also be of value.

Unfortunately, though, even these sophisticated imaging procedures may not detect the minute plant particles and the patient may need to undergo surgery.

The surgeon will open the joint and remove the entire area of inflamed synovium (joint lining).

Examination of the synovial tissue by a pathologist will show the microscopic pieces of thorny material. In addition, the pathologist will be able to identify what is called a granulomatous reaction. This is a typical biologic response that occurs in body tissue when exposed to a chronic irritant such as plant matter.

Another danger that can occur as a result of a thorny puncture is a septic or infected joint. This is a medical/surgical emergency since untreated infection will cause joint destruction but can also lead to systemic sepsis. Antibiotics and surgical debridement are generally required.

The long term prognosis for plant thorn synovitis is a good one if the diagnosis is suspected and early intervention is instituted.

Prevention is difficult but if plant enthusiasts at least are aware of this potential problem, it makes the diagnosis easier should it occur.
