Danish clothing company sells T-shirts to support FARC and PFLP

Friday, January 20, 2006

A recently created Danish clothing company is selling on the internet T-shirts in order to support the clandestine radio station of the Colombian guerrilla group Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) and the graphical workshop of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP). In fact the money will be used by these groups to carry on their terrorist activities. FARC activities include kidnappings, masacres, bombs, extortions and the drug trade.

Fighters and Lovers is selling the T-shirts at 170 DKK (US$27.6), from which 35 DKK (US$5.7) are to be destinated to support both armed groups.

Anna Duever, Fighters and Lovers PR chief, said to Spanish news agency EFE that their objective is to “defend freedom and social justice, which is FARC and PFLP are fighting for”. Duever believes the fact the FARC has been included by the EU in its terrorist group list is a “political game”. “We pay our taxes in Denmark, and that money is used for financing the troops our government has sent to Iraq. That’s terrorism. Besides, in Colombia there’s a regime oppressing population and torturing and killing its people”, she said.

Colombian Foreign Affairs Minister, Carolina Barco, said to local media that “financing terrorist groups is unacceptable and goes against all the international norms. Yesterday [Tuesday 19] our ambassador contacted the Danish government, we sent a protest note and have demanded an explanation.”

A year ago, a Danish NGO named Oprør (“Rebelion”) stated it had donated money to the Colombian guerrilla. A new antiterrorism law in Denmark may punish it.

  • A Few Lesser Known Reasons To Consult A Labor Laws Attorney

Click Here For More Specific Information On:

    byAlma Abell

Workers in this country have laws that protect them from unfair treatment by employers. Unfortunately, employers do not always respect and follow these laws. When they don’t, a worker’s best course of action is to hire a Labor Laws Attorney to file suit against the employer.

What Protections Are Offered to Employees?

Most workers realize they are entitled to a fair wage and workers compensation in the event they are injured. Not everyone realizes there are also laws protecting employees from workplace discrimination, sexual harassment, and wrongful termination, and they are legally entitled to file suit against any employer that breaks these laws.

    Sexual Harassment

Sexual harassment encompasses any form of unwanted sexual advances, including requests for sexual favors and both verbal and physical conduct considered to be of a sexual nature. This may include groping, inappropriate touching, and degrading or sexual remarks. What constitutes sexual harassment in the workplace is usually decided on a case-by-case basis, so it’s important to hire a lawyer to ensure the person responsible is held accountable.

    Workplace Discrimination

The definition of workplace discrimination is the illegal singling-out of an employee or job applicant on the basis of his or her gender, race, ethnicity, age, sexual orientation, or religious affiliation. It can be difficult to prove the reasoning behind the singling-out of any particular employee, so it’s a good idea for any worker who believes he or she has been discriminated against to find a lawyer.

    Wrongful Termination

Wrongful termination is the discharge of an employee without just cause. Often, wrongful termination suits are filed in conjunction with workplace discrimination suits when the apparent cause of termination is related to the worker’s gender, race, sexual orientation, or age.

    Protections for Whistleblowers

Whistleblowers are employees who expose the dishonest acts of their employers. Anyone who is considered a whistleblower is entitled to protection from wrongful termination as retribution for his or her exposure of dishonesty and can file a lawsuit for damages and breach of contract.

    Learn More Today

These are only a few of the protections offered to workers in the modern legal system. Anyone who believes he or she has been the victim of any workplace-related crime should consult a Labor Laws Attorney immediately to learn about available options. Predictable random number generator discovered in the Debian version of OpenSSL

    ">
Predictable random number generator discovered in the Debian version of OpenSSL

    Friday, May 16, 2008

A major security hole was discovered in the pseudo-random number generator (PRNG) of the Debian version of OpenSSL. OpenSSL is one of the most used cryptographic software, that allows the creation of secure network connections with the protocols called SSL and TLS. It is included in many popular computer programs, like the Mozilla Firefox web browser and the Apache web server. Debian is one of the most used GNU/Linux distributions, on which are based other distributions, like Ubuntu and Knoppix. The problem affects all the Debian-based distributions that were used to create cryptographic keys since the September 17, 2006. The bug was discovered by Luciano Bello, an argentine Debian package maintainer, and was announced on May 13, 2008.

This vulnerability was caused by the removal of two lines of code from the original version of the OpenSSL library. These lines were used to gather some entropy data by the library, needed to seed the PRNG used to create private keys, on which the secure connections are based. Without this entropy, the only dynamic data used was the PID of the software. Under Linux the PID can be a number between 1 and 32,768, that is a too small range of values if used to seed the PRNG and will cause the generation of predictable numbers. Therefore any key generated can be predictable, with only 32,767 possible keys for a given architecture and key length, and the secrecy of the network connections created with those keys is fully compromised.

These lines were removed as “suggested” by two audit tools (Valgrind and Purify) used to find vulnerabilities in the software distributed by Debian. These tools warned the Debian maintainers that some data was used before its initialization, that normally can lead to a security bug, but this time it was not the case, as the OpenSSL developers wrote on March 13, 2003. Anyway this change was erroneously applied on September 17, 2006, when the OpenSSL Debian version 0.9.8c-1 was released to the public.

Even though the Debian maintainer responsible for this software released a patch to fix this bug on May 8, 2008, the impact may be severe. In fact OpenSSL is commonly used in software to protect the passwords, to offer privacy and security. Any private key created with this version of OpenSSL is weak and must be replaced, included the session keys that are created and used only temporary. This means that any data encrypted with these keys can be decrypted without a big deal, even if these keys are used (but not created) with a version of the library not affected, like the ones included in other operating systems.

For example any web server running under any operating system may use a weak key created on a vulnerable Debian-based system. Any encrypted connection (HTTPS) to this web server established by any browser can be decrypted. This may be a serious problem for sites that requires a secure connection, like banks or private web sites. Also, if some encrypted connection was recorded in the past, it can be decrypted in the same way.

Another serious problem is for the network security software, like OpenSSH and OpenVPN, that are used to encrypt the traffic to protect passwords and grant the access to an administrative console or a private network protected by firewalls. This may allows hackers to gain unwanted access to private computers, networks or data traveled over the network, even if a not affected version of OpenSSL was used.

The same behavior can be applied to any software or protocol that use SSL, like POP3S, SSMTP, FTPS, if used with a weak key. This is the case of Tor, software used to offer strong anonymity on the TCP/IP, where about 300 of 1,500-2,000 nodes used a weak key. With 15-20% of weak Tor nodes, there is a probability of 0.34-0.8% circa to build a circuit that has all tree nodes weak, resulting in a full loss of anonymity. Also the case of only one weak node begin used may facilitate some types of attack to the anonymity. The Tor hidden services, a sort of anonymous public servers, are affected too. However the issue was speedly addressed on May 14, 2008.

The same problem also interested anonymous remailers like Mixmaster and Mixminion, that use OpenSSL to create the remailer keys for the servers and the nym keys for the clients. Although currently there is no official announcement, at least two remailer changed their keys because were weak.

Authorities impose vehicle ban on Baghdad
    Posted in Uncategorized | March 8th, 2018

    Friday, March 3, 2006

As of Friday, March 3, police will be ordered to confiscate any private vehicle on the roads of Baghdad during a day-time vehicle ban. The restrictions come on top of the regular night time curfew, which ends at 6 AM, when the new curfew will kick in. Despite the traffic ban, people may walk on foot to their local mosques for Friday prayers.

The curfew is part of the efforts by the Iraqi government to combat escalating violence after the bombings of the golden mosque of Sammarra on the 22nd of February. According to the BBC at least 400 people have died in the violence following the assault on the Shia shrine; the Arab network Al-Jazeera estimates this number to be at least 500.

The security situation in the country as a whole has greatly deteriorated since the attack that triggered a wave of violence between the Shiite and Sunni Muslim groups. The Iraqi administration fears that clerics might encourage violence during the day’s Friday prayer, and interim prime minister Ibrahim al-Jaafari made an appeal on Iraqi TV for the religious leaders, asking them to “express themselves in the language of national unity.”

Refrigeration in Blaine MN allows homeowners to use appliances that cool their homes and keep their foods at appropriate temperatures. When this process does not work right, it prevents an appliance from delivering convenience and necessity. Being in need of refrigeration repair, maintenance, or installation requires you to find the right technician. Take some time to investigate local service providers. Use the following tips for this job.

Before you hire a service provider, learn as much as you can about the job that needs to be performed. When you have an appliance that needs repair, check out the device. Write down how the appliance has been operating. What parts of it seem to be defective? As you learn about the cause of the problem, you can communicate with your service provider better and safeguard against fraud.

Start your search by talking to people you trust. Friends and family members are more likely to be open and honest about their experiences with their respective technicians. Inquire about the type of work that was done, how long it took to do the job, and whether the repairman was communicative. Ask to view the work that was done. This can help you form an initial opinion of a technician. You can also talk to workers at local home centers. These workers can tell you details customer tell them about various technicians. When you have four or five referrals, choose two who you will research more.

Continue your research by making an appointment for each technician to visit your home. During a visit, ask the service provider about his education, experience, and ability to handle your appliance. It’s essential for a technician to be insured. While not always mandatory by law, working with a licensed service provider will enable you to benefit from a worker who has passed state tests.

Buffalo, New York — The Buffalo Fire Department and Police were called to a hazmat situation at Canisius College on Main Street after security reported that a one gallon glass container containing chloroform broke, spilling about a pint onto the floor of the college’s science building.

According to communications by firefighters, who arrived at around 8:20 a.m. (eastern time), the glass container spilled on the third floor in room 318. As a precaution the building was evacuated and East Delevan road between Main Street and Jefferson Avenues was closed to all vehicle and pedestrian traffic while crews worked to clean up the spill.

At about 9:15 hazmat crews entered the room and began to clean up the chemical “using kitty litter” and fans to air out the room. They then sealed the material in a five gallon container. At 9:23 a.m. firefighters stated that they no longer detected the chemical in the air and began to pack up their gear.

Officials for the college assessed the situation and decided to keep the building closed for the day. “At 8:22am this morning the Public Safety Department and Buffalo Fire Department responded to a report of a chemical spill on the third floor of the Health Science Center. As the building is cleaned, the Health Science Building will remain closed today and reopen tomorrow morning,” a college official said to Wikinews, adding they could not confirm the firefighter reports.

Firefighters believe the container containing the chemical was knocked over while someone working with maintenance was cleaning the floors.

There are no reports of injuries, but WKBW reports that the maintenance worker was taken to Sister’s of Saint Mercy’s hospital not far from the college for observation.

Chloroform is a common solvent used in chemistry laboratories. Minimal exposure can cause dizziness, headaches and fainting while prolonged exposure can cause liver and kidney damage. It is considered a hazardous material and environmentally unsafe. Banned as a consumer product since 1976 in the U.S., it was previously used in toothpaste, cough medicines and pharmaceuticals.

Thirty-four people had to be evacuated this lunchtime after a fire started on a lorry, which was being transported on a freight train in the Channel Tunnel.

Eurotunnel, the operator of the Channel Tunnel, said all services had to be suspended this afternoon due to the small blaze in which nobody was hurt.

John Keefe, a spokesman for Eurotunnel, said: “It was a freight shuttle going through with about 34 people on board, who have all been evacuated safely.

“Eurotunnel is conducting checks of the tunnel and its equipment. Once these investigations are completed, Eurotunnel will commence a progressive restart of commercial services.”

The company also said services through the Tunnel would hopefully resume later today. “Unfortunately with this being a very busy time of year, it’s going to take a few hours to clear the backlog once we’ve got started again,” said Mr Keefe.

A Eurostar spokesman said: “We are advising passengers to avoid travelling today if possible. Tickets can be exchanged for another day.”

The Channel Tunnel is a 31 mile long rail tunnel beneath the English Channel which connects Folkestone in Kent to Coquelles near Calais in northern France.

    Find Good Singing Lessons For Professional Singers}

    Submitted by: Chris Chew

If you desire to carve out a career as a singer or simply want to have fun developing your singing voice, you will in all probability need to take singing lessons sooner or later. Yes, I can predict that if you want to be a good or even a great singer since almost all or even all professional superstars have taken or are still having singing lessons to enhance their singing career.

So how do you look for good singing teachers? If you think that it is just a matter of looking up names of teachers in a directory, then I must tell you it is not as simple as that. Remember, you want to find good singing teachers and not just anyone who call themselves vocal coaches.

You see, ending up with the wrong singing teacher could mean more than wasted time and money. You could even damage your voice permanently. A bad teacher could ruin your voice and thus your hopes of becoming a top notch singer. So here are some tips on how to find a good singing teacher and thus get quality vocal lessons.

Firstly, you need to decide want you want out of your singing lessons. Do you want to develop your singing talent to its fullest potential for a dazzling career or just to learn some songs to sing socially? Do you want to be classically trained or become a pop or jazz singer? Knowing what you want will help you to decide which teacher is right for you and how much you are willing to invest in one.

Once you have decided on what type or genre of a singer you want to be, start by looking up the teachers who are able to deliver what you want. You can surf the net, checking out the testimonials of the teachers near you or else search for them in your local music publications, magazines or advertisements.

Remember, a good singing teacher does not make bold or incredulous claims about what he or she can do for your voice. A good teacher will let his or her work show for itself and will have numerous references of former or existing students for you to cross check with.

Next, do be careful about any teachers who claim to have brand new, never previously discovered techniques. Hey, you don’t even know whether this new technique will improve or destroy your voice, sodo not be an experimental guinea pig.

When you find a singing teacher who suits your requirements, ask permission to observe a few singing lessons with different students. If all the lessons are exactly the same and the teacher does not tailor the lessons to suit each individual student, then it is time to look elsewhere. You need an expert who can teach you what is uniquely right for you, your style and your voice.

Now, when you finally found a teacher who seems right for you, go ahead and book some trial sessions. You might need a few lessons before you really know if this is the right vocal coach for you.

Nowadays, there are many great vocal coaches who give singing lessons online, through multi-media and even CDs. Even though these teachers are well known ones, because they are not personally with you, their fees are only a fraction of what it will be if they are to coach you in person. This option is for those who either cannot afford good singing teachers or cannot find the time commuting to the teacher’s studio for their lessons to improve their professional singing career.
