Benefits Of Becoming An Accounting Clerk}

Submitted by: Sean Goudelocks

There are a number of benefits of becoming an accounting clerk whether at a small company or a large corporation. One of the main benefits is being able to learn accounting without having to pursue a four year degree. Another major benefit is being able to have practical knowledge of accounting which is extremely important to many employers. There are many additional benefits that can allow individuals to reap serious rewards for having a minimum amount of qualifications. If you want to know more about this topic, you can read the tips and guide below.

One of the best perks to becoming a clerk for the accounting department at any major company is the pay. High school graduates with a decent educational record and limited to no experience can make between $28,000 to $32,000 a year. This rate of pay can increase after individuals have additional training or if individuals have obtained an undergraduate degree. The pay scale often increases for individuals who have been at the company for a long period of time. The longer an individual works with one organization, the more likely they are to see their salary increase.

Another excellent perk for accounting clerks is continuing education. Many employers are willing to pay for their employees to attend further education in their field. Clerks are often able to take classes at night or online with the cost being reimbursed to them by their employer. This can mean a large cost savings for employees who are looking to go to business school. Best of all, many employers do not make employees continue to work with them after they take these classes. Employees are free to continue with the same company or they may peruse a position elsewhere.

Clerks also work with some very influential people in powerful companies. Whether a clerk is working for the accounts receivable department of the FedEx corporation or the clerk is working with the payroll department of Bank of America, Fortune 500 companies hire hundreds or thousands of clerks to assist with their day to day needs. Many executives like to visit these departments to create a positive public image. This can help many new clerks who are beginning at a company to network as well as learn more about the industry they work in. Clerks often are able to move up the ladder quickly as long as they understand the basics of the industry that they work in.

Accounting clerks are one of the few entry level jobs that can be made into a very profitable career. While many high school graduates hear that they have to go to college in order to be successful, clerks are able to prove them wrong. This position is available for students as soon as they graduate from high school and can generate a decent living. However, employees also qualify for some unique privileges such as tuition reimbursement and other perks such as health insurance and retirement savings plans. Best of all, there is room for advancement within the company for employees!

Millions of old New Zealand coins still to be handed in

Millions of old New Zealand coins still to be handed in
    Posted in Uncategorized | February 24th, 2018

    Wednesday, October 25, 2006

On November 1, 2006 the old five, ten, twenty and fifty cent coins will be illegal tender, but the Reserve Bank of New Zealand says there are still at least 100 million still to be returned.

According to the Reserve Bank, most of the old coins have been lost in drains or buried in rubbish. “We think there is still another 100 million sitting around in people’s homes,” Brian Lang, currency manger for the Reserve Bank, said.

Lang said: “So far, just over 280 million coins have been returned, but there are more out there. Since 1967 the Reserve Bank has issued more than a billion of the old ‘silver’ coins. So if you don’t want to be stuck with loads of old coin – there’s never been a better time to empty your coin jars, sweep the car glove box and rummage behind the couch cushions.”

The coins still awaiting to be handed in, by either spending them, taking them to a bank or donating them to charity, are estimated to be worth between NZ$5 million and $50 million.

“A last-minute burst of publicity may convince people to bring the coins in. It’s a bit of a hassle though. Human nature being what it is, people just don’t care,” Lang said. The Karori Wildlife Sanctuary located in Wellington say that they have collected over $9,000 in old coins. Sanctuary spokesman, Alan Dicks said: “The campaign was particularly fitting because the old coins depicted tuataras and kiwis, both of which can be found living at the sanctuary. The money will go towards supporting general ecological restoration of the sanctuary. We want to get over ten grand, but the more the better.”

Lang said: “Though the coins will no longer be legal tender, banks will continue to exchange them until at least the end of the year,” and the Reserve Bank will always exchange them. “We are still getting people coming in with two-dollar notes,” Lang added.

A new study has found that people storing extra fat around their waist have a strongly increased chance of early death, even if their overall weight is average. The study, published in the New England Journal of Medicine today, found that for each addition 5 cm on the waist, the chance of early death is increased by between 13% and 17%.

In the study, 360,000 people from across nine countries in Europe were surveyed.

One of the study’s authors, Professor Elio Riboli of Imperial College London, commented on the findings. “We were surprised to see the waist size having such a powerful effect on people’s health and premature death,” he stated.

The European Commission, the executive branch of the European Union, has today lifted its ban on unusually shaped fruits and vegetables, in what the EU’s agriculture commissioner has called “a new dawn for the curvy cucumber and the knobbly carrot”.

The regulation has previously been criticized as an example of the EU’s bureaucracy by critics of the organisation.

The products affected by the deregulation are apricots, artichokes, asparagus, aubergines, avocadoes, beans, Brussels sprouts, carrots, cauliflowers, cherries, courgettes, cucumbers, cultivated mushrooms, garlic, hazelnuts in shell, headed cabbage, leeks, melons, onions, peas, plums, ribbed celery, spinach, walnuts in shell, water melons and witloof/chicory.

A vase purchased at a car boot sale for £1 has sold for £32,450, following advice from experts on the BBC‘s Antiques Roadshow television program. The vase was sold in an auction at Christie’s.

The vase was found to be a 1929 work made by the French designer Rene Lalique.

Recent anonymous press briefings by US State Department officials indicated that its arms control division may punish Blackwater Worldwide for improper paperwork.

The Directorate of Defense Trade Controls has the power to fine or agree voluntary penalties with exporters of certain weapons, who do not follow correct procedures. Blackwater Worldwide, a private military company, exported automatic weapons to Iraq that became the subject of a federal investigation first disclosed in 2007. Concern was expressed by the unnamed officials that paperwork errors may make the weapons untraceable, and that some reached Iraq’s black market.

Ideas For Jewellery Making Using Gemstones

    Posted in Marketing | February 23rd, 2018

    By Adam Hunter

The Earth has produced a veritable rainbow of precious and semi-precious gemstones and through the ages mankind has taken these beautiful stones and incorporated them into jewellery making. Certain stones hold particular significance for many cultures and some are prized above others for their rarity or beauty. But it isn’t just diamonds and rubies that command our attention – semi-precious stones have their own, intrinsic beauty and can be used in any form of jewellery making.

Gemstones can be at the centre of a piece or they can act as a compliment to a design. The simplest way to use gemstones in jewellery making is to use gemstone beads, which come ready-drilled for easy application. A simple string of semi-precious turquoise beads interspersed with silver spacers can produce a simple but stunning necklace that can be worn with any outfit. By using the same pattern in a bracelet and a pair of earrings you can create a matching set that compliments each component perfectly. If you’re looking for a deeper effect, then the gold-flecked, colbalt blue of lapis lazuli is an ideal choice. This stunning gemstone is so highly regarded that it is used for more expensive commercial jewellery making, as well as being readily available to the hobbyist.

Almost everyone wears at least one ring, and if you look in any woman’s jewellery box you will find an array of gemstones set into various designs. From a simple but elegant solitaire diamond ring to a cluster of garnets, gemstones have been used to adorn the fingers of both rich and poor for thousands of years. Findings and settings are easily obtainable from any good jewellery supplier, and it is a simple matter of finding a cabochon or faceted gemstone to fit the setting and then marrying up the two. It doesn’t have to be diamonds all the time – the vivid green and black stripes of malachite make an eye-catching ring at a budget price that is suitable for any occasion and can be a real conversation starter.

Necklaces are where gemstones really come into their own. A delicate filigree design of deep red garnets or green peridot can add a dash of freshness and elegance to a summer wardrobe, whereas a plain cabochon of amber set in silver and worn as a black velvet choker is the ultimate in evening elegance. One of the most popular gemstones is the vibrant rainbow of the opal. This incredible stone reflects every colour imaginable and changes constantly, making some high quality opals almost seem alive. Opal works with silver particularly well and is easily obtainable both as a finished gem or, if you’re feeling a little more ambitious, as an uncut stone that can be cut and polished to reveal the hidden beauty inside. A ring set with an opal catches the light and the eyes of everyone who looks at it, although there are some superstitions attached to its use that may put some people off!

Gemstones have never been out of favour and offer a world of possibilities in jewellery making. They can be used for any project, large or small, and is available in a variety of prices making it possible to incorporate into your designs even at beginner’s level.

When You Are Considering Teeth Whitening Before Your Wedding

When You Are Considering Teeth Whitening Before Your Wedding

    by

    A Aaronson

If you have wedding bells in your future, then you might have teeth whitening on your mind. For some reason, when people prepare to get married, getting this done is on the top of their list. It is probably especially the case for the bride. It might be the pictures, or it might be the desire to look her best. Whatever it is, it does happen, and if you are in this situation, then you need to know where to turn to have it done.

There are many options today for teeth whitening. There are several over-the-counter strips or trays that will, over time, work. They may cause sensitivity due to the agent in the whitener, but after a while, the strips will do the trick. Another option is to go to your dentist. Every dentist may not do this procedure, and it will probably not be one covered by insurance.

If your dentist does do teeth whitening, then he or she may do most of it in-office and even send you home with a kit for the rest. How it is done will depend on your dentist. You would be wise to talk to your dentist before choosing whether to go the over-the-counter method or a more professional way. Your dentist might know which ones are better for those who are sensitive. Your doctor might tell you that your smile is as white as it is going to get. If he or she says this, then it is of course still up to you, but you might save money if you believe him or her.

Sometimes things might be the things to do, but in some cases, they do not really need to be done. It could be the case with teeth whitening. You should not put pressure on the groom to do this unless you think it will really help with pictures. If his smile is a little yellower than yours, then most likely the photographer can tweak that. If all you are doing it for is the pictures, it is important to keep in mind that your photographer will be spending hours editing anyway, it will not hurt to edit this area. Then again, a heavily edited grin might result in some pictures looking a shade unnatural.

Some people really do need teeth whitening. Some smiles are just very stained. A variety of drinks can cause this, and the best way to avoid having these stains is to stay away from teas, coffees, and red wines. These will definitely influence the tone of your smile.

US President Obama celebrates his first Martin Luther King Jr. Day while in office

On Sunday, at a Bapist church originally founded by freed slaves, US President Barack Obama addressed the congregation about the “Dream” of slain civil rights activist Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.—whom Obama credits with paving the way for his 2008 election—and about the importance of hope and faith in his own life.

On Monday, Obama, with his family in tow, served hot lunches at a local Washington soup kitchen—one of several ways America’s first black president planned to pay tribute to the late Dr. King on the federal holiday that honors his legacy and lasting impact upon society.

Later at the White House, Obama will host a gathering consisting of small selected group of African-American seniors and their grandchildren where they will discuss the meaning of the civil rights movement and how it still effects them to this day. Following which, that evening, the Obamas are slated to attend the “Let Freedom Ring” concert at the Kennedy Center. A musical event that will feature gospel artists and choir members from various area churches among other houses of worship.

Another prominent American politician, governor-elect of New Jersey, Chris Christie held a banquet on Monday evening to honor the importance of Dr. King’s message as well. Other commemorations included a march in Seattle where participants rallied for issues in the African-American community.

Hurricane Katrina causes upwards of $12bn of damage; oil prices surge

Hurricane Katrina causes upwards of $12bn of damage; oil prices surge
    Posted in Uncategorized | February 23rd, 2018

    Monday, August 29, 2005

Hurricane Katrina is now over the U.S. mainland and has caused more than US$12 billion of damage. Some estimates are as high as $30 billion.

New Orleans was spared the most intense winds as the hurricane weakened as it made landfall, and its track turned slightly east, away from the city. However, the area was still subjected to sustained winds of more than 100mph, and rainfall as heavy as six inches per hour.

Future prices of crude oil rose above $70/barrel in the U.S. on Monday in the wake of Katrina’s surge through oil and refinery processing facilities in the Gulf of Mexico. The storm forced operators to shut down an estimated 1 million barrels of daily refining capacity in the region that accounts for nearly a quarter of total domestic production.

A U.S. spokesman for the Bush administration said the government will consider releasing crude oil from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve if requested by refiners. OPEC has pledged to blunt the impact by increasing production to compensate.

White House spokesman Scott McClellan told reporters that Michael Brown, the director of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), briefed Mr. Bush before he left his Texas ranch for Arizona where he will deliver a speech on Medicare. Brown said it would take time before an assessment is possible for when refineries could resume activity.

President Bush authorized loans from the strategic reserve to help make up for missing supplies when Hurricane Ivan struck in 2004.
