By Himfr Tian

National Logistics Information Centre senior economist Chen Zhongtao a recent exclusive interview, said that in the second half, the pressure of upstream raw material prices may be easing.Chen Zhongtao engaged in the analysis of industrial price index of China’s manufacturing PMI (PMI index) monitoring. He told reporters that the first half, the pressure of higher raw material prices.

From the PMI index to reflect the purchase prices of raw materials price index, although the July drop to 60%, but still as high as 58.9%, reflecting the trend of rising raw material prices are still relatively strong. The feedback from the business point of view, reflecting the proportion of raw material prices continue to rise steadily company, in July was 34%, up 1 percentage point last month.

Different industries, the majority of the industry, price indices continue to maintain a high level. 20 industries, only less than 50% of fabricated metal products, and the remaining 19 industries all above 50%, of which 60% of the nine industries, especially oil processing and coking industry, the pharmaceutical manufacturing industry as the highest two , 70% or more.

    Purchase price index higher in these sectors is divided into three categories: First, the main raw materials of petroleum crude oil processing and coking industry, the pharmaceutical industry; Second, grain and cotton and other agricultural products as raw materials for food processing and manufacturing and beverage manufacturing, garments manufacturing and fur feather products industry, textile industry;

Third, mineral resources as raw materials ferrous metal smelting and rolling processing industry, non-ferrous metal smelting and rolling processing industry. “This year, the upstream raw material prices continued to rise, currently has manufacturing, business to enormous pressure, most enterprises have been unbearable to reflect.” Chenzhong Tao said.

However, according to China Logistics Information Center, market monitoring, the average price of capital goods market in China has experienced three consecutive months of continuous rise, the purchasing price index fell for two consecutive months: in June from up to down, and up down 0.34%; July is the first time in four months, dropped to below 60%.

Chen Zhongtao think this indicates that the second half of the upstream raw material prices pressures may be easing. Purchasing price index fell for the reason, he said, mainly upstream of the downstream industry unbearable rising raw materials prices, rising resistance to increase. But Chenzhong Tao also said, in the second half is still necessary for the state to continue to strengthen macro-control, stability, prices of upstream products, preventing transmission to the downstream increase in inflation pressure; while preventing the rising cost of normal production and operation of the business difficult.

This end, Chen Zhongtao suggest the department concerned in the present case, the resource cost increases caused the price of new commodity price adjustment measures, and the tax policy should be suspended to prevent cost-push inflation. At the same time take measures to restrain demand growth, to prevent the demand-pull inflation.

Continue to implement moderately tight fiscal policy, monetary policy, economic growth shifting from fast to prevent overheating, especially to prevent a larger rebound in fixed asset investment growth; speed up the implementation of the relevant industrial policies, speed up the implementation of energy conservation, the pace of eliminating backward production capacity; continue to take effective measures to firmly restrain the “two high and one capital” exports.

Turkey sets the price to lift the ban on YouTube and Google services

Turkey’s Finance Ministry has given Google a tax demand of $18.6 million, and Transport and Communications Minister Binali Y?ld?r?m called on Google to register as a taxpayer in the country to “help accelerate” the lifting of a ban on YouTube and Google services.

As The Register reported, access to search engine Google had been limited due to a block imposed on its IP set, and most of Google’s online services had been inaccessible in Turkey since June 4. The IP addresses were shared between YouTube and other Google services. As International Business Times reports, YouTube has been banned in Turkey since 2008.

Accoring to HaberTurk, which is the Turkish version of Bloomberg, Yildirim said that “YouTube is a tax-payer in 20 countries, and we want them to do the same in Turkey.” Turkey’s Finance Ministry has given Google a tax demand of $18.6 million. Y?ld?r?m called on Google to register as a taxpayer in the country, and he said that it is a step that “would help accelerate the lifting of a ban on the company’s Youtube video-sharing website.”

Reporters Without Borders condemned “the growing repercussions of Turkey’s censorship of YouTube” and quoted Turkey’s President Abdullah Gul as saying “I do not want Turkey to be included among the countries that ban YouTube and prevent access to Google.”

Several internet sites have recently been banned in Turkey. The Register reports that 3,700 websites are “blocked for arbitrary and political reasons” in Turkey, including foreign websites, sites aimed at the country’s Kurdish minority, and gay sites according to The Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE). Reporters Without Borders added Turkey to the list of “countries under surveillance” in its report on “Enemies of the Internet,” issued March 2010.

Andrea Muizelaar on fashion, anorexia, and life after ‘Top Model’

In the 18 months since Andrea Muizelaar was crowned winner of the reality TV series Canada’s Next Top Model, her life has been a complete whirlwind. From working in a dollar store in her hometown of Whitby, Ontario, to modeling haute couture in Toronto, she had reached her dream of becoming a true Top Model.

But at what cost? Unknown to casual television viewers, Muizelaar had been enveloped in the eating disorder anorexia nervosa, which inevitably became too much for her to bear. She gave up modeling and moved back to Whitby, where she sought treatment for her disorder, re-entered college, and now works at a bank. Where is she now? Happy and healthy, she says.

Recently Andrea Muizelaar sat down with Wikinews reporter Mike Halterman in a candid interview that stretched to nearly two hours, as she told all about her hopes and aspirations, her battle with anorexia, and just what really happened on Canada’s Next Top Model.

World’s cheapest car launched in India, will go on sale in April

World’s cheapest car launched in India, will go on sale in April
    Posted in Uncategorized | May 27th, 2018

    Tuesday, March 24, 2009

The world’s least expensive car, the Tata Nano, has been launched in India. It will go on sale in April, and will start delivery in July. The automobile costs only 100,000 Indian rupees, or just under US$2,000.

“We are at the gates offering a new form of transportation to the people of India, and later I hope other markets as well,” said the chairman of the auto firm, Ratan Tata, calling the vehicle a “milestone.”

“From the drawing board to its commercial launch, the car has overcome several challenges,” Tata said. “I hope it will provide safe, affordable four-wheel transportation to families who till now have not been able to own a car.

“This was never conceived as the cheapest car, but as providing transport to those people who never owned a car,” Tata said. “Driven mainly by the change in demand that we see elsewhere in the world, we suddenly felt we had a product that could be of considerable interest as a low-cost product in western Europe, eastern Europe, the UK and even the U.S.”

The Tata Nano is a four-door vehicle, and is 3 metres long, 1.5 m wide, and 1.5 m tall. It is equipped with a 33 bhp, 624 cc engine at the rear. No radio, airbags, power steering, or air conditioning are available in the basic model, although upgrades are available. The Nano Europa, a slightly larger European version of the car, is expected in 2011.

According to Ravi Kant, the managing director at Tata Motors, the first 100,000 people to receive a Nano would be chosen from the initial orders by a ballot.

An auto analyst for Bombay’s Angel Broking, Vaishali Jajoo, predicted that the Nano will add only three percent to Tata’s revenues even if it can sell a quarter of a million such cars per annum.

“That doesn’t make a significant difference to the top line,” Jajoo said. “And for the bottom line, it will take five to six years to break even.”

Environmentalists say that the car will exacerbate traffic problems already rife in India, and help increase pollution levels. Tata, however, stated that its vehicle is the least polluting car in the country.

Mumbai 2008 attack plotter sentenced to 35 years
    Posted in Uncategorized | May 27th, 2018

    Friday, January 25, 2013

A Pakistani-American has been sentenced today to 35 years in prison for assisting and helping plan the 2008 attack in Mumbai leaving dead 166 people.

The 52 year old, David Coleman Headley, pleaded guilty in a US federal court in Chicago and co-operated in order to stop the death penalty and being extradited to India for trial. RK Singh, the Indian Home Secretary indicated that the Government would still be requesting his extradition to India.

The Mumbai attackers arrived via boat on Novemeber 26, 2008, bringing with them grenades, automatic weapons and hit multiple targets including the crowded Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus railway station and the famous Taj Mahal Hotel. David Headley’s scouting and information gathering had helped to enable the operation by the 10 gunmen from the Pakistani militant group Laskhar-e-Taiba. The attack put a huge strain on relations between India and Pakistan.

“I don’t have any faith in Mr Headley when he says he’s a changed person and believes in the American way of life,” said the sentencing judge, Harry Leinenweber.
